A great opportunity has arrived to join the East and North Herts NHS Trust's communication team as communications and media manager.
Our communications team provides a comprehensive service to the Trust, leading internal and external communications, media handling, management of the Trust's websites and social media channels, events and corporate publications.

We achieve this through a range of mechanisms, working closely with staff and patients.
Our office is a busy, fast-paced environment with responsibility for ensuring that senior management and clinical staff are briefed on the Trust's key objectives and priorities, as well as any media interest in the Trust.
The main purpose of this role is to support and shape communications and engagement across the Trust to engage stakeholders and support delivery of the Trust's key objectives and priorities. If you are successful, you will be responsible for planning and managing external media relations and programming.
The role forms a key part of the communications team, providing a proactive, professional, 24/7 service, which includes providing both counsel and support to staff across the Trust.
- Plays a vital role within the communications team, providing a first point of contact for executives and staff, writing for key corporate channels, prioritising a busy workload and acting on their own initiative.
- Develops communications strategies to support senior leaders in delivering the core Trust priorities through working with divisions and the corporate functions.
- Manages and develops key relationships within the organisation to source proactive opportunities to inform stakeholders and promote and enhance the Trust's reputation through effective two-way communication and engaging content.
- Ensures all communications activity supports the Trust's corporate objectives, clinical and fundraising priority areas, organisational values and promotes its position as a leading provider of healthcare and research.
- Ensures communications output is relevant, timely and achieves a standard of production that is first class.
- Manages external relations at the Trust as required, ie working with the media, supporting filming and events.
- Maintains an understanding of the local and national news and political agenda, and uses this to identify opportunities to develop relevant content for Trust staff.
- Participates in the out-of-hours on-call rota. Manages social media content and planning and activity relevant to staff in line with the Trust's corporate objectives and key strategic priority areas.
