Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, the Manager of Internal Communications will be responsible for planning and executing effective internal communications strategies and programs that drive employee awareness and engagement. This person will collaborate closely with divisional executives, marketing, human resources and other partners to plan and execute effective internal communications strategies that engage internal audiences on key messages and support a positive workplace culture. Successful candidates will excel at balancing strategic thinking with tactical execution.
Responsibilities:
Partners with the executive team, marketing, human resources and other teams to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate strategic internal communications. Leverages understanding of business plans and goals to drive strategy and messaging content.
Plans, writes and edits content for internal communications channels, including web, email, social media and print.
Creates new channels to reach employees with core messages. Brings creative ideas and new approaches to messaging to maintain engagement.
Designs, edits and oversees distribution of regular and ad hoc internal communication materials through a variety of communication channels.
Provides guidance to the executive team regarding communication plans, special events, and announcements to ensure high impact and effectiveness.
Consults with leaders to craft key messages and orchestrate major employee events like service anniversary recognitions, year-end celebrations, leadership messaging at the Annual Sales Meeting, etc.
Aligns with employer branding efforts to maintain a compelling and creative brand for prospects/candidates/employees.
Partners with human resource to support employee engagement efforts.
Monitors and assesses utilization of internal communication media to determine effectiveness.
Qualifications:
BS/BA with 8-10+ years of experience as a communications professional
Must include 3+ years direct experience with internal (i.e. employee) communications in a business setting
Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
Flexible and comfortable dealing with ambiguity and change
Demonstrated success developing and implementing effective communications plans
Demonstrated experience interacting with executives and senior leaders
Strong consulting skills with the ability to provide creative ideas and influence effectively
Experience collaborating with digital and design teams on internal communication effort
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and oral communication skills; exceptional attention to detail
Team player with well-developed relationship-building skills
Agency experience is a plus, as is experience in the medical device / health care industries
