About the role

We’re looking for a savvy wordsmith who is able to seek out stories that engage our internal and external audiences to help achieve our company objectives.

As part of the Marketing Team, the Communications Executive will need to be a confident communicator who can engage our people and our social media community. We need someone who prides themselves on building excellent stakeholder relationships, has a creative flare for creating content and a positive can-do attitude.

Day-to-day you’ll be coming up with content ideas for our social channels and interacting with our social media community. You’ll also be crafting colleague comms that keep our people engaged and up to date on the latest Westfield news whilst working alongside key stakeholders and departments to foster an open, honest and collaborative workplace culture.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Communications & Community Manager to develop and execute the internal communications plan, bringing our business strategy and values to life and keeping our people engaged and informed.

  • Source and collect interesting stories from across the business and bridge the gap between external activities and our internal audience.
  • Manage the schedule of internal communications, attending and contributing to regular meetings with key stakeholders across the business and balancing quality and quantity.
  • Monitor and respond to enquiries and briefs within the Internal Communications inbox in a timely manner, using a variety of formats and delivery methods to respond to briefs.
  • Own and deliver our bi-weekly internal company newsletter, capturing relevant and timely updates from across the business to keep colleagues engaged and up to date on key activities.
  • Support the delivery of internal events and take an active role in maintaining and improving the company intranet.
  • Regularly monitor and report on activities and outcomes against KPIs, incorporating learnings into our plan and delivery methods.

Support the Communications & Community Manager to develop and execute the social media strategy, managing the day-to-day running of our social channels.

  • Create, source and schedule engaging and relevant content across LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Employee Advocacy in line with objectives.
  • Utilise our social media monitoring and scheduling tools to keep on top of comments and messages, responding to our community in a timely way and in line with our brand guidelines and tone of voice.
  • Proactively listen, identifying opportunities for content creation and social engagement from the market, news agenda, our customers/partnerships and story owners across the business.
  • Train colleagues as necessary to upskill as social contributors.
  • Regularly analyse and report on account performance, iterating our approach to improve performance.
  • Monitor and report on competitors’ social media activity and strategy, sharing learnings with the wider team and adapting plans in response.
  • Manage Employee Advocacy, the social tool we use to engage and support the Sales Team.

Other duties and responsibilities

  • Provide cover as necessary in the absence of the Communications & Community Manager.
  • Be aware of and follow all company procedures and guidelines. Ensure all documented policies and procedures within area of responsibility are maintained in accordance with company requirements.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested.

Education and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level

Experience

Required:

  • Experience of managing and creating content for brand social media channels.
  • Some experience interpreting data and research into bitesize, short form social content.
  • Some experience translating comms briefs into clear communications for colleagues.
  • Some experience of working within brand guidelines.
  • Insight driven with some experience of using data to develop and adapt approach.

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of social media tools, e.g. Sprout Social, Employee Advocacy.
  • Some experience of using and editing internal intranet platforms.
  • Some experience of working with agencies and suppliers.
  • Some experience of managing budgets.

Skills

Required:

  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to write clear and accurate copy in a range of different styles.
  • Ability to spot a story, angle or talking point and build thoughtful content around it.
  • Some analytical and data driven skills, with the ability to analyse, evaluate and present information and data clearly.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
  • Ability and desire to seek out and test new ways of working, the courage to challenge the norm and the drive to continually improve.
  • Proofreading and editing.
  • Organised, proactive and focused on delivering to a high standard.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentational communication skills in conveying concepts to a range of stakeholders.

Desired:

  • Basic design skills, e.g. Canva.
  • Basic video editing skills, e.g. Premiere Rush.
  • Blogging.
  • Project management.
  • Strong IT skills, awareness of new techniques, technologies and methods.
  • Awareness of or interest in the health and wellbeing industry and/ or HR sectors.
