Job Purpose and Mission
The Starbucks EMEA Public Affairs team is looking for a dynamic, skilled, and creative communicator to deliver engaging internal and external content to drive affinity with the brand across key corporate narratives. The partner will also support with wider tasks within the EMEA Public Affairs team in service of protecting and promoting the Starbucks brand in the EMEA region.
Key Job Dimensions & Scope of Role
This partner (employee) will be an integral part of the EMEA Public Affairs team, shaping the overall EMEA partner communications plan and delivering against the EMEA Support Centre plans through execution of hybrid in-person and virtual events, drafting written communications and creating engaging visual content to drive employee trust and affinity for the brand.
The partner will also maintain and develop the brand’s digital storytelling platform Starbucks Stories EMEA, mining the business for stories, drafting and publishing editorial content and visuals with minimal changes and input. As audiences increasingly look for engaging and compelling visual storytelling the partner will also develop visual-first content, both through use of in-house tools and by drafting creative briefs and working with external agencies.
An interest in digital/ social- first storytelling and analytics to measure impact will also be important in this role as the partner will lead on measuring the impact of the channels they work on and play an active role contributing to the wider omnichannel campaign plans developed by the EMEA PA team.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Owns the EMEA Support Centre partner communication plan, shaping the strategy and driving and delivering against it through weekly and quarterly town halls and events leveraging executive visits and key business milestones
- Shapes and inputs into wider partner (employee) communication strategy for EMEA, including campaigns and culture change initiatives that reach all audiences in the region (inclusive of those working in retail and licensees)
- Drafts excellent copy in Starbucks brand voice and with minimal changes and input – including all communications to EMEA Support Centre partners, and for the regional digital storytelling platform Starbucks Stories EMEA
- Drives the continued development of the region’s digital storytelling platform – Starbucks Stories EMEA, through development and delivery of content that drives traffic to the channel
- Develops brilliant and engaging visual content and creative assets utilising in-house software and by executing creative briefs and project managing content created by external agencies (visuals, infographics, GIFs, video etc)
- Oversee content effectiveness: tracking engagement and deliver against KPIs
- Actively contribute to the development of omni-channel communication strategies with tactics that deliver results
- Spot opportunities to develop engaging content for a range of audience types by mining for content across the business
- Oversee EMEA PA content library and act as a ‘champion and guardian’ of the SBUX brand internally, providing guidance, feedback and coaching on tone of voice, look and feel of content and communications.
- Works flexibly within the small EMEA PA team, providing support with wider tasks as required to protect and promote the brand in the region and globally
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experienced creative and digital communicator with previous experience and/ or relevant academic qualification
- Experienced content creator of engaging content for a range of channels
- Ability to create high impact, clear, targeted communications using a variety of media
- Excellent copywriter and English language capabilities (written and verbal) essential.
- An enthusiastic and proactive go-getter who is willing to get stuck into a range of projects, keen to learn, and support all team members
- Understanding and interest in best-practice digital /social communications and engagement
- Excellent PC and web skills (specifically PowerPoint, Word, OneDrive, DropBox). Knowledge of Canva an advantage.
- Analytical skills and responsive to data and applying its learnings
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines to complete agreed programmes to a high standard
- Excellent attention to detail and first-rate organisational skills
