The Communications Manager – GM & Clothing is an integral part of the Product PR team responsible for helping deliver exciting PR campaigns and projects across the non-food business.
The role will have responsibility for supporting and managing a broad range of products and initiatives across Sainsbury’s, Habitat and Argos General Merchandise categories, including Toys, Electricals, Clothing, Home & Furniture and Beauty. You will act as PR lead on Sainsbury’s / Argos / Habitat brands / categories, consulting internal stakeholders to determine strategic opportunities and develop PR plans which deliver effective results.
You’ll have strong consumer PR experience and a keen interest in the media landscape, including social media. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of overseeing and executing campaigns for big brands in a fast-paced environment, which deliver clear results and support broader business objectives.
More about the role
- Network effectively with Commercial and Marketing teams in Coventry, Milton Keynes and Holborn, seeking information on category plans and feeding back to our teams and agencies
- Direct the team and manage third party suppliers such as PR agencies, design and production houses, third party brands and influencer agencies to deliver campaigns and plans
- Work with the Communications Executive and Communications Assistant to develop and own a cross-category proactive press office outreach programme, including solutions executed by the in-house team
- Work closely and collaboratively with the other Lifestyle Communications Managers to support the Senior Communications Manager on strategy and campaign development, as required
- Draft press releases, statements, copy, quotes, Q&As, briefs presentations and reports where required
- Ensure joined up communication with internal channels to amplify activity where relevant (including Marketing, Digital, Internal Comms, Store Comms and Customer Services)
- Plan, execute and manage media and influencer events, ensuring they are delivered to a high standard and maximise content creation opportunities and drive earned PR and social media coverage
- Brief and manage lifestyle PR photography shoots across brands, working collaboratively with in house and externals production teams
- Participation in out-of-hours press office rota
More about you
- Solid experience - ideally 5-7 years working in consumer PR with large consumer brands, in-house or in an agency: retail, fashion, interiors, consumer goods, beauty
- Good project manager – highly organised, manages well upwards and downwards
- Good people person – proactively builds and nurtures relationships, natural networker
- Solid contacts – journalists, media, agents across the lifestyle, interiors, beauty fashion and consumer media space
- Solution seeker and self-starter - overcomes obstacles to secure what is needed
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail
- Keen interest in lifestyle trends and competitor marketplace
- Event production as well as lifestyle and studio shoot production and management
