JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications, this position is primarily responsible for managing internal communications strategy and execution for the Metropolitan Airports Commission.
This role is part of the Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Division, whose charter is to function as an in-house team serving as stewards of strategy, developing strategic communications and creating stakeholder champions to ensure the organization delivers on the purpose, values and focus areas.
The Strategic Marketing and Communications Department stewards a consistent brand voice, activates the brand to engage key constituents and supports revenue growth and passenger engagement through strategic campaigns grounded in research and analytics.
This position will serve as the primary Strategic Marketing and Communications representative for several internal-facing client departments. In addition to internal communications, this position also provides support for external, executive, media and crisis communications.

RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting Relationship – Reports to Assistant Director of Strategic Communications.
Supervision – No direct reports. May direct the work of contractors and partners.
Organizational – Frequent contact and interaction with MAC staff members, including directors and managers, as well as occasional contact with MAC commissioners and senior staff. Close collaboration with Strategic Marketing and Communications colleagues and subject matter experts in internal-facing departments including Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology and Internal Audit.
External Partners – Occasional contact with members of the news media, general public and airport tenants.
JOB DUTIES
Internal Communications
Support the MAC’s purpose, values, focus areas, goals and action items by aligning internal communications to the Enterprise Strategic Plan.- Manage the day-to-day internal communications strategy to drive engagement and increase employee understanding of MAC initiatives at all levels of the organization.
- Serve as lead writer and editor for weekly internal newsletter to share timely, relevant information with employees.
- Develop engaging content that is useful to employees, follows a consistent voice and style, and advances campaign and project goals.
- Provide key leadership for employee intranet by developing and maintaining content standards, serving as primary liaison to department editors, conducting training sessions, creating reference guides, and identifying opportunities to expand and create impactful content.
- Create talking points, speaking remarks, presentation slides and related content for a wide range of communication channels.
- Support internal executive communications as needed by drafting and proofing written content, preparing presentations and tracking results.
Account Service and Campaign Management
- Develop strong client relationships with internal-facing departments and subject matter experts while delivering excellent service.
- Create campaign briefs, identify communications tactics, and collaborate with creative services and marketing teams to develop and execute effective multi-channel campaigns.
- Track and analyze KPIs and campaign performance to evaluate effectiveness.
- Proactively communicate project status updates and results to clients.
External Communications
- Research and write content for MAC-owned communication channels including websites, blogs, social media and newsletters.
- Develop content for brochures, fact sheets and other print materials.
- Provide proofreading and editing support for documents including but not limited to reports, grant applications, planning materials and letters of support.
- Develop scripts for videos, podcasts and other multi-media channels as needed.
- Draft responses to customer and stakeholder inquiries.
Media Relations and Crisis Communications
- Curate and distribute daily electronic news clips within the MAC.
- Provide back-up support for responding to media inquiries. Serve on rotation as after-hours media contact.
- Assist with news conferences, ribbon cuttings, open houses and other media-related events as needed.
- Draft and distribute media advisories, news releases and statements as needed under the direction of the Manager of Strategic Communications and/or Assistant Director of Strategic Communications.
- Assist with crisis communications under the direction of the Manager of Strategic Communications and/or Assistant Director of Strategic Communications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism, public relations or a related field. An associate’s degree plus two additional years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.- Four years of professional communications experience where the primary duties included writing, editing and developing content.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adjust tone and style for a variety of platforms including employee communications, newsletters, speaking remarks, presentations and video scripts.
- Excellent proofreading skills and knowledge of AP style.
- Clear and articulate oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience developing strong client relationships in support of campaign goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of plain language best practices and experience working with technical subject matter experts to convey information in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Experience following, developing and updating style guides for digital and print communications.
- Intermediate skill level using website content management systems.
- Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed. This position is part of a four-member after-hours rotation for media relations and crisis communications.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable vehicle to commute between job sites.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Five years of professional communications experience.
