Job Summary/Basic Functions
The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at Eastern Kentucky University is accepting applications for the full-time staff position of Communications Generalist.
The candidate will work collaboratively with College of STEM and Departmental leadership and Communication and Brand Management (CBM) to reach college and university goals. They will be responsible for developing communication strategies to help manage CSTEM's marketing and brand efforts, up to and including web design and content management. This generalist role will capture and highlight stories of students, faculty and alumni through written and creative mediums and contribute to written communication with donors as part of donor stewardship.
The candidate will maintain everyday web design and content management for the College of STREM and College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences. They will oversee annual marketing calendars, analyze strengths and weaknesses of outreach plans, and determine appropriate support services they need from the creative team within CBM.
The position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited and recognized institution. One year of relevant experience and/or recognized training or appropriate educational qualification is required. Proficient knowledge of principles and best practices of marketing, social media, and web content management systems is required. They are expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with undergraduate students and the university community.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
Experience: One year of relevant experience and/or recognized training or appropriate educational qualification would be required. Requires proficient knowledge of principles and best practices of marketing, social media, and web content management systems.

Job Duties:
- 45% - Develop and maintain CSTEM (college & department) websites. Assist CLASS with the same, as necessary. Consult with constituents regarding their specific web needs. Act as liaison between Communication and Brand Management and above constituents. Provide training and support for designated web managers within constituent units. Provide customer service support to end users. - (Essential)
- 30% - Capture and highlight stories of CSTEM's people, places, and programs in various outlets such as the web and the college's alumni newsletter. Collaborate with editorial board to determine stories and gather content for stories featured in newsletters. Prepare web and printable versions of newsletter, proof all copy, and follow-up with assistant director of Alumni Engagement to ensure publication deadlines are met. Assist with correspondence to CSTEM donors and alumni. - (Essential)
- 10% - Serve as liaison between CSTEM and Communication and Brand Management. Work with CBM on major web design and development issues.
