JOB SUMMARY
Denny’s is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Manager with a passion for storytelling and engaging employees and franchisees with dynamic content. In this role, you will work with our VP, Communications to win the hearts and minds of employees and the Denny’s franchise community, while helping to generate content that positions Denny’s as an employer of choice. The ideal candidate is a talented writer and storyteller—someone who is energized by informing and inspiring internal audiences. Preference is given to candidates living in the Dallas Metroplex and Spartanburg areas. Candidates will be asked to submit writing samples and/or complete a timed writing test.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Key Responsibilities)
- Partner with leaders across the Denny’s business to develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy
- Develop and manage a variety of internal communications vehicles and content, including emails, newsletters, town hall meetings, internal talking points, and other internal communications initiatives
- Work to develop new and effective internal communications channels
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Master’s degree a plus.
Experience:
8-10 years of experience in communications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong background in internal communications, including excellent speaking, writing, and editing skills
- Strong organizational skills, sense of urgency, and attention to detail
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to support multiple projects at one time
- Passion for all things internal communications, displaying a growth mindset and the ability and interest to innovate
- Ability to distill and shape storytelling from an employee point of view
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams)
- Enthusiasm, creativity, collaboration, positivity, and an entrepreneurial spirit are critical—no matter the size of the project
- Experience in a franchise business is a plus
