This is a full-time, restricted position funded by a federal grant. The grant funding will expire on 12/31/2024; continuation beyond that date is contingent on the availability of grants funds.

The Division of Community and Volunteer Services is currently seeking a Communications Coordinator for Serve Virginia. Serve Virginia is an intentional partnership between the Virginia Service Commission, which operates within the Virginia Department of Social Services as the lead agency for volunteerism and service for the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Virginia Service Foundation, an independent 501(c)3 organization, and a statewide network of partners. The Serve Virginia Communications Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications to engage stakeholders, including Commission partners, nonprofit organizations, and government entities; to promote service, volunteerism, and national service programs; maintaining and using metrics to assess Serve Virginia brand presence and the progress of associated campaigns; ensuring consistent and engaging activity across a variety of platforms to promote public awareness of projects and initiatives on social media, website, newsletters, presentations, and public reports, and will provide direct supporting to the Statewide Engagement Officer.
Minimum Qualifications
- Work experience in communications, marketing, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in social media.
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and produce compelling public facing collateral, like press releases and annual reports.
- Demonstrated ability to create visually appealing materials consistent with brand guidelines through digital and print media, including e-newsletters, social media, and other tools.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain, update and problem solve issues on a website and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and assess communications on various platforms, including writing social media content, securing needed photo and other visual elements, and releasing campaign content in a timely fashion as well as measuring engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute promotional strategies for large meetings and conferences.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute special projects and create strategic communication plans.
- Demonstrated ability to represent Serve Virginia professionally with external and internal customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Experience in website and graphic design.
- Knowledge of nonprofits, volunteerism, and National Service, including AmeriCorps.
