From garden gnomes to Ideal Homes, this is an exciting opportunity to join our communications team, working to build Homebase’s reputation as the home and garden experts.

Sitting at the heart of the Homebase family, you’ll work closely with internal teams and agency partners to develop creative campaigns and drumbeat conversations for both media and our team. We’re a ‘team first’ business, committed to our people and passionate about our role in local communities – whether through product donations or a helping hand – to make sure we leave everywhere happier, and greener, than we found it.

Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday. (8am - 4pm OR 9am - 5pm) - flexible working options may be considered.

Location: Milton Keynes

We operate a hybrid working policy which means that (with the exception of your first few weeks when we would like you to be in the office more often, to make sure you've settled in) you will have the option to work from home for up to two days per week. Because in this role, visibility in the office is important we require that you work from the Store Support Centre (in MK) on Tuesday and Wednesday each week, however, we do ask for flexibility as there may rare occasions when these days may change, depending on whether there are any important meetings or team events you may need to attend. Equally, we are happy to offer the same flexibility if there are occasions when you want to swap these days out as well.

Salary: In return for your hard work, we're offering a competitive base salary plus a performance-based annual bonus. Our internal recruitment team will provide more information upon application. Any salary offered will be pro-rata based on the number of hours worked.

The role

• Managing the day-to-day consumer PR activity, shouting loud and proud and positioning Homebase as the home and garden experts
• Oversee the press office, including media requests, product loans and journalist relationships
• Develop seasonal campaigns including, including new product launches, that stand out above the noise
• Work closely with our agency partners and in-house teams
• Support the Head of PR & Communication with issue management and corporate PR

Who we're looking for?

We’re looking for someone to join our team who is passionate about retail and landing best in class press coverage while inspiring our customers and team daily. We don’t need you to have 10+ years’ experience in PR, but we’d love it if you classed yourself as creative, with excellent writing skills and you’re willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. We can promise you that no day will ever be the same!
