Are you a skilled communicator with a passion for engaging diverse audiences? We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer within a central University department. This assignment is due to commence ASAP for 12 weeks in the first instance, on a Full Time basis.

Duties include:

  • Deliver aspects of the department's communications strategy professionally.
  • Write, edit, and proofread various communications materials for broad audiences.
  • Develop and update online communications on intranet, website, and social media channels.
  • Plan and organize events aligned with the communications strategy.
  • Evaluate communications activities and analyse results for future strategy.
  • Oversee production of promotional materials for campaigns and events.
  • Engage with stakeholders and provide timely and relevant information.
  • Provide tailored communications training and advice to subject matter experts.
  • Support and guide less experienced team members, allocating tasks.
  • Ensure departmental communications follow University branding guidelines.
  • Actively participate in communication networks to share information and promote best practices.

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive communications experience across print, digital, and social media.
  • Proven ability in producing effective web content.
  • Excellent writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer-based applications, including content management systems.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Professional qualification in public relations or marketing.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Knowledge or interest in the subject area of the department.
