Opportunity

Position: The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is seeking a creative, organized and highly motivated content creator and communicator to join the Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to the Associate Director, Communications,the Communications Specialist will oversee the Society’s social media program, blog and video production, aiding in the execution of the objectives in the communications operational plan. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual that is passionate about social media and communications while working within an industry committed to animal welfare.

Status: Full Time, Permanent

Location: This position is based out of Provincial Office with eligibility to participate in our flexible work program.

A Typical Day

· Participate in planning and assist in the delivery of the society’s communications plans and community engagement goals

· Create and execute the provincial social media content calendar

· Oversee all provincial social media accounts

· Support volunteers assisting in social media initiatives in various animal centres across the province

· Create social media plan for various provincial fundraising and advocacy campaigns

· Stewart online influencer relationships

· Develop and manage online contests with the goal to generate leads and increase online engagement

· Update all aspects of the Ontario SPCA Blog

· Coordinate video production and writing freelancers for the Society

· Create videos, including REELs, videos for fundraising initiatives, promo videos for websites, videos for special events and content for the Ontario SPCA YouTube channel

· Provide regular report analysis of all provincial social media programs and the Ontario SPCA blog

· Provide consulting and training support to animal centres and like-minded societies on the topics of social media and video production

· Act as an official writer for the Ontario SPCA, assisting in media releases, blog posts, Annual Report and other projects as required

· Act as a spokesperson, participating in REELS, promo videos and the occasional media segment

· Create UTMs for various campaign analytics

Do You Have What it Takes?

· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, public relations, or a related field.

· Experience in the areas of communications

· Excellent social media management and strategy skills

· Strong experience working on a variety of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn)

· Comfortable being in front of the camera

· Proven experience in crisis management and online engagement

· Excellent video production skills

· Working knowledge of Adobe Premier and Adobe Suites
