About The Role

Working Hours: 21 hours per week

Contract Type: Part-Time, Temporary (Maternity Cover)

The Directorate Support Team provides centralised support to the Neighbourhoods and Growth & Development Strategic Directors and Directorate Management Teams in order to help deliver service objectives. The service sits within the Neighbourhoods Directorate and is responsible for Internal Communications and Staff Engagement, Policy, Strategy and Project Support and both strategic and operational Business Support.

The role holder will support the effective delivery of internal communication and staff engagement programmes. Duties will include but are not limited to:


  • developing quality content across all communication platforms;
  • be a point of contact for services to manage the delivery of internal communications activity - ensuring managers are kept up to date with progress on agreed activity;
  • monitor and report on research, data and insights about user behaviour in order to enhance internal communication messages and delivery;
  • engage with colleagues across the directorates to coordinate and produce content for all staff communications;
  • play an integral part in planning, coordinating and delivering staff engagement sessions in a variety of mediums including virtual and in person.

About the Candidate

The candidate should have good communication skills and be able to communicate clearly, concisely,

accurately and in ways that promote understanding.


They need to be able to demonstrate the ability to organise multiple tasks in the most effective way, and allocate time and energy according to task complexity and priority.
They need the ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to problems. They should also be confident in using multiple software applications including Office 365 or demonstrate an ability to learn new systems quickly that are required for producing effective communications.
Ideally the candidate should have a good understanding about accessibility requirements for written communications and develop messages in line with corporate guidelines.
