Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time, Part-Time, Job-Share options available)
Salary: Circa £45,000 DOE
Location: Eastleigh - Hybrid working

External Communications Specialist: Ageas currently has an exciting opportunity for an External Communications Specialist to join our External Communications Team based at our Eastleigh office. As an External Communications Specialist your work will strengthen the profile and reputation of Ageas in the UK by telling our story using a range of external communication channels, particularly our corporate digital channels, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to align messaging and activity.

Main Responsibilities as an External Communications Specialist:

  • Act as the External Communications lead for the corporate digital channels (predominantly LinkedIn) including planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting on the performance of the channel.
  • Act as a communications business partner, planning and delivering an annual programme of external communications activity including;
    integrated communication campaigns aligned to the corporate themes, working closely with the wider External Communications team, Internal Communications,
  • Digital team and Marketing team to ensure alignment of messages and activity;
  • Planning and writing award entries for the business partnered functions, aligned with the corporate priorities;
  • Collaborating with internal experts to seek out, analyse and develop Ageas’s position on public policy and regulatory developments, with an influential role in shaping the outcome in the interest of our business, our people, customers and our reputation.
  • Coordinating stakeholder briefings working with the relevant internal experts and trade bodies; and
  • Identifying opportunities to lead on topical debates and build and develop thought-leadership plans to raise the profile of the Executive Team and technical experts.
  • Act as the External Communications lead on Business Continuity planning and exercises.
  • Create visual materials (inc. PowerPoint slides) to support the Head of Public Affairs and CEO Office as required and aligned with the corporate brand and communication pillars.

To be successful in being considered for the External Communications Specialist you will need the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Proven experience of working in communications, ideally in a regulated sector
  • Experience of working in a corporate environment and/or working for large companies as an external communications consultant
  • Either a working knowledge and experience of, or strong interest in, the insurance and financial services sector
  • Experience in running a corporate LinkedIn channel
  • Skills / Knowledge / Attributes
  • A detailed understanding of communications across shared, owned, earned and paid media, applies best practice communications principles & practice
  • A detailed knowledge of social media best practice and analysis
  • The ability to understand, process and translate technical information quickly and confidently
  • A consummate self-starter, able to take the initiative and work well with minimal direction
  • A highly effective communicator, exhibiting good questioning and listening skills
  • Strong copywriting and proofreading skills
  • Confident in PowerPoint and visual presentation
  • Excellent writing skills, including grammar and punctuation
  • Demonstrable ability to make effective decisions, often under pressure.
  • Excellent organisation skills, ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time
  • Demonstrable ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the changing environment in which communications operates
  • Ability to travel to other UK sites
