The Vice-President External Engagement team (VPEE) coordinates UCL’s engagement with a range of external and internal audiences, raising the university’s profile and influence, and managing its reputation. They promote the public value of UCL’s research and education, both within the UK, and globally. It is a service-driven team of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.
Communications for UCL sits within the Strategic Planning and Business Partnering department in the Division of Communications and Marketing (CAM).
About the role
We are recruiting for a Communications Assistant to support the delivery of staff and student communications at UCL. The successful candidate will do this through producing staff and student e-mail newsletters and supporting with the production of content for other channels and activities, acting as a first point of contact for enquiries and query handling, and completing various administrative, supervisory and editorial duties.
About you
To excel in this role, you need to have experience of writing, editing and proofreading for a variety of online and printed materials, experience of using web analytics, social media metrics and qualitative feedback to enhance and develop communication plans, and a demonstrable track record of supporting effective communications campaigns, especially in the digital or social sphere. The successful candidate needs to have experience in using a CMS (Content Management System) such as Drupal, and previous experience in using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) System would be advantageous.
You are a team-player with excellent time-management and organisational skills, the ability to perform in a complex, fast-paced environment and the ability to complete assignments with a high attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
