Communications and Media Manager- (Inside IR35)
Contract Term: 3 months - Possible extension of up to 12 months

Location: Ideally Belfast - Or anywhere in Northern Ireland – 2 days in the office
EA was established on 1 April 2015 under the Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2014. EA is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department of Education (DE) and the Department for the Economy (DfE), responsible for ensuring that efficient and effective primary and secondary education and educational services are available to meet the needs of children and young people, and for ensuring the provision of efficient and effective youth services.
As a Communications and Media Manager your main responsibilities would be:
- Develop, lead and review an overarching framework for Directorates and Communications and Media Officers, setting out in a clear and consistent way how communications support will be delivered, measured and reviewed, against baselines and key expected outcomes.
- Develop an annual integrated programme of key campaign and media activities aligned to the overarching Communication Strategy; and key organisational priorities and objectives. This will be reviewed and agreed by the Corporate Leadership Team on a quarterly basis.
- Manage and lead a team of Communications and Media Officers, setting clear direction, supporting professional development, improving performance and helping staff reach their potential.
- Ensure each Directorate has a consistent Communications plan in place, led by the Communications and Media Officers, setting out key priorities, measurable targets and outcomes, aligned to the overarching Communication Strategy; annual programme of activities; and key organisational priorities and objectives.

Create new opportunities to broaden the communications and engagement skill base of our teams across EA Directorates with Communication and Media Officers, providing advice, direction, and guidelines for staff as appropriate in supporting communications and engagement activities.
You’ll have relevant experience in:
- Must hold a full clean driving license.
- Leading on setting strategy and direction for a communications team.
- Managing a team of communications staff.
- The ability to champion EA strategic priorities and skills to set the direction and strategies to ensure professional and high-quality communications, media, digital and campaigns/project services, and deliver service improvement in line with best practice and organisational priorities.
- Providing advice to senior Staff within the organisation in relation to high profile and complex communications and media issues at Senior Management level (Director level and above).
- A proven ability to successfully prioritise and manage a busy work programme under pressure and public scrutiny.
- A proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at a range of levels.

As such the payment to the intermediary and your income resulting from this contract will be different.
