Communications and Marketing Officer

Communications and Marketing Officer Remote

Independent Higher Education
Full Time Remote 27000 - 29000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Benefits: £27,000-29,000 per annum (full time equivalent), super flexible employer, part time (short days) and job share considered, home working/London location, 25 days annual leave + 4 days at Christmas and all bank holidays, 10% employer pension contribution.

Who we are: Independent Higher Education (IHE) is the UK membership organisation and formal representative body which exists to support, develop and promote independent providers of higher education, professional training and pathways.

IHE’s 69 members include household names such as the Royal Academy and Le Cordon Bleu, long established independent colleges Spurgeon’s College and City & Guilds of London Art School, industry leading technical institutes Futureworks and Met Film School, new providers the Dyson Institute and TEDI-London and global education pathway providers Kaplan and Study Group.

The Role: This role will get involved in all our comms and marketing activity from planning multi-channel comms and marketing plans, copywriting, to social media and website content. Day-to-day you will be our in-house expert on the website CMS and will be writing content for marketing emails, newsletters, and social media. You’ll use analytics to see how your campaigns are working and will be our brand guidelines oracle.

The Candidate: You will be great at writing impactful content and adapting to audiences. You’ll be a bit of digital whizz including CMS and social media, and maybe a bit of design work too. Your background or qualifications might be in marketing, comms, copywriting or journalism. Above all, you’ll be an enthusiastic team player and willing to pick up and run with whatever is thrown at you.

Working for IHE: IHE is small but powerful – we currently have 9 full and part time roles which means that we are all flexible and helpful to one another. Sometimes things come up that nobody is “responsible” for so we expect all our employees to be ready to jump into something they might not be comfortable with or know much about. We’ve found that we learn a lot, really fast that way!

We also understand that while work is important, it’s not your whole life so you might need to take time off, work part time permanently, or temporarily work from your friend’s house in Majorca. We are very open to part time working but this particular role will need to have some working time each day (Monday to Friday). We also have an employee assistance programme to support you when things are difficult.

We don’t have an office so we work from home but IHE provides equipment to ensure you’re comfortable. If you don’t have anywhere to work at home, we can arrange for some desk space at one of our members’ premises, so don’t let that put you off. We like to meet up periodically to work through the big strategic projects (and put on trousers), and you will be needed for occasional in-person meetings and events, so you will need to be able to travel to London within 3 hours. IHE will pay travel expenses for these trips.

How to apply: Please don't apply through Indeed. Instead, visit our website (http://independenthe.com/work-for-us) to download the full job description and person specification for this role, and send us your CV and cover letter direct.

There’s no closing date because we will review applications as they come in so apply soon to avoid disappointment. The first stage of interviews will be a short phone screen. This will be followed by a full interview and written or other exercise.

Please note that we will not consider any applications without a covering letter.

Don’t meet every single requirement?

Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We want to build a diverse, and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with everything in our person specification, please do apply anyway.
