Hours of Work: 08:00-17:00 Monday – Friday with a 45 minute lunch break
Location: Woodford Halse, Northamptonshire, NN11 3UB
Within this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing commodity strategies for current and future programs, sourcing and qualifying vendors, negotiating pricing and placing purchase orders to fulfil demand. The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient material flow to support our operations in a manner that demonstrates the Company’s philosophy.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage all aspect of assigned commodities - commodity strategies, market conditions, technology roadmaps, and should cost creation
- Responsible for issuance of RFQs
- Responsible for managing a supply base that meet Singer’s Cost, Quality, and Delivery targets
- Manages supplier contractual framework, including NDAs, GT&Cs, MSAs, and PSAs
- Accountable for ensuring accuracy of part master data within MRP
- Generates purchase requisitions and place Purchase Orders with suppliers, to meet demand
- Accountable for on-time delivery of purchased material, at (or below) planned costs
- Negotiates pricing with vendors to reduce total material cost
- Identifies part supply constraints that may impact production schedule and create mitigation plans
- Works in a cross-functional team environment as a strong team player and demonstrate ability to work with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals
Personal Specification
- Strong ability to coach and lead team members within the department
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, math, and statistics
- Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
- Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and efficiently
- Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines
- Confident working in an office based environment, using computer equipment for many aspects of the role
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or other relevant fields
- 3 plus years of experience as Buyer, Purchasing Agent, Purchasing Specialist, GSM or equivalent
- A valid UK driver’s licence
- Proficient in Fishbowl or similar MRP systems is desirable
- Some experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing would be preferred
- Prior experience in rapid growth environment is desirable
