The Integrated Adult and Children’s Social Care Commissioning Team delivers a high quality service across all areas of the Children’s Services and Adults Housing and Health Directorates; this is an exciting time to join the team as we are developing new ways of working to support a wide range of opportunities for those who live in Thurrock.
Better Care Together is an integrated programme across health, social care and local residents focusing on local services and support to live well in Thurrock. This post will be instrumental in our integrated approach across all-age mental health and dementia.
In addition, the Brighter Futures Children's Partnership brings together the full spectrum of partners responsible for planning and delivering health, care and education to the children, young people and families of Thurrock. Commissioning is an integral part of the delivery of the aims of the partnership to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people and their families in Thurrock.

Thurrock Council’s Integrated Adult’s and Childrens Commissioning Team is looking to recruit to an All-Age Mental Health and Dementia Commissioner. We need a person who can work alongside colleagues, partner agencies and those people with lived experience to drive change.
The key responsibilities for this role are varied and include:
- Delivering the Commissioning process for All-Age Mental Health and Dementia
- Ensuring that the services commissioned for those with lived experience of Mental Ill Health and Dementia are informed and driven by a comprehensive assessment of need.
- To explore new and creative ways of meeting needs within a strength based and Human Learning Systems approach
- To ensure that Mental Health and Dementia remain integral to Thurrock’s Market Position Statement, development and diversity. To ensure that the Mental Health and Dementia agendas are integrated within the Brighter Futures agenda and Thurrock’s Better Care Together transformation program.
- To develop and sustain care and support responses that maximise choice, independence and control out lined in the Care Act 2014 and all relevant legislation and guidance
