Job description
Property / Office: Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London
Location: London, United Kingdom
Two Michelin stars, 130 covers a night. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal runs like a well-oiled machine, and we’re looking for a Commis Chef who can keep pace.
This isn’t just a chance to learn what it takes to run a two-starred restaurant; it’s a chance to learn the history of British cuisine, from an eighteenth-century salamagundy to salmon cured with Earl Grey.
Of course, the standards of service expected at Dinner are only possible with a certain level of regimentation. But with regiments come ranks, and we believe in moving up them.
Everyone from our head chef to our maître d’ have been promoted from within. So as a Commis Chef, if you’re ready to put the effort in, you can expect to progress quickly and move around.
After all, our hotels are international, and a fine stay means fine dining all over the world, from Tokyo to New York.
About the role
As a Commis Chef you will assist with the food production in the kitchen, ensuring high standards are followed, so to delight our guests. You will work as part of a large team, who are committed to deliver the service standards and high level of food production.
We are looking for someone who has some previous experience working in a professional kitchen, ideally in 2AA Rosette or Michelin* restaurant. This role would suit someone who is looking to further develop their knowledge and skill.
About the hotel
Dinner is a collaboration between two iconic names: Heston Blumenthal and Mandarin Oriental. When you set foot through these doors, you feel the spirit of the city infusing every floor. The park’s green vastness rolls beyond bedroom windows. Renowned guests frequent the hotels’ bars and restaurants.
It’s another world – and we’re looking for people to transport our guests here. To a world of oriental luxury and the most attentive service. A world that’s all about them.
It’s a world that’s been reinvented and reimagined to move with the times. With a heart of London’s heritage and an eye to the future, we use our own sense of history to set new standards – through kind, passionate and generous service.
