Job description
CRBA therefore brings together all parts of the BBC to put in place platform or carriage deals, clear archive rights, negotiate deals with independents or agree programme investment deals. Innovation is at the heart of CRBA – supporting the BBC in creating new products and bringing them to market, building new partnerships, and establishing joint ventures for major content. This in turn relies on our deep understanding of rights, technology, content and the media market.
We are currently looking for a Commercial Rights and Business Affairs Assistant to join the London team as maternity cover up to 12 months. This position has a focus on our commercial licensing business, collecting net revenues from independent producers and third party distributors and processes for licensing archive content to BBC Studios Distribution.
As an Assistant working in the CRBA Commercial, IP and Business Management team, your main responsibility will be to ensure the correct reporting, payment and recording of BBC’s net revenue shares from commercial distribution of our commissioned content. This will involve understanding distribution agreements, checking statements received and chasing those that are due, updating databases and raising sales orders.
You will record and use this data to provide reporting as required. You will also work with CRBA Managers to manage smooth flow of business with BBC Studios Distribution, and there is an opportunity for the right candidate to expand the commercial activity of this role.
Are you the right candidate? The successful candidate will be highly organised, enjoy juggling priorities and be very proactive. A strong team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively, you will have experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of people across a large, complex organisation and with contractual partners e.g. Commercial, Finance, Rights and Business Affairs.
Strong numeracy, accuracy and Excel skills are essential and you will be comfortable working with figures, maintaining data and systems and building and maintaining spreadsheets. You will also need demonstrable experience of handling financial information and be able to prepare progress reports in both written and verbal format.
An interest in and/or understanding of the commercial distribution of broadcast content and the rights and reporting involved would be an advantage, as would any experience with SAP.
