Commercial Paralegal

Location: Newbury or London (Blended home working)
Working hours: Full time/part time


Role Purpose;


Commercial Paralegal within the Vodafone UK Commercial Legal Team supporting Senior Counsel and Counsel on a wide range of commercial contracts, coordinating legal input into contract change implementation programmes and assisting with company secretarial and property support.


What will you be doing?


  • Supporting the Commercial Legal Team and its key stakeholders in a wide range of commercial work including in relation to:
othe procurement of goods and services
othe provision of wholesale mobile services to Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) and leases and licences of spectrum
othe provision of connectivity to customers on a wholesale basis
ocarrier services: interconnect and other services received from or provided to other carriers, such as SMS, interconnect and number porting
oUK network projects and network sharing arrangements
obusiness development activities and other strategic projects
  • Drafting and negotiating NDAs and a range of other commercial contracts (supervised where appropriate)
  • Providing advice and support for in-life contract queries from stakeholders
  • Coordinating Commercial Legal Team input into an ongoing contract change programme and working closely with supply chain and other key stakeholders to ensure implementation of new requirements in both existing and new in-scope agreements.
  • Providing support to fibre services team in relation to wayleaves and other similar agreements.
  • Providing support to Networks teams in relation to Vodafone interests in networks sites and its relationships with core infrastructure providers.
  • Assisting with company secretarial support for UK operating companies and non-trading subsidiaries. Ensuring company filing obligations and Group internal secretarial audit requirements are met, as well as supporting Senior Counsel with corporate governance matters and board meetings.
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved quickly and escalating where necessary.
  • Assisting with ongoing programmes of updating templates and internal briefing notes and providing ongoing training to ensure that key stakeholders contract as efficiently as possible and in a way that manages key legal risks.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of stakeholder facing internal websites and self-service commercial legal resources.
  • Collaborating effectively with other parts of the UK Legal Team, and legal teams in Vodafone Group and other Vodafone operating companies, to share ideas, learnings and best practice.

Who are we looking for?


  • University honours degrees (second class or better)
  • Experience of working in an in-house environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Good understanding of telecoms (desirable but not essential)
  • Resourceful and hardworking - self motivating and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Sound commercial judgement; ability to identify and highlight risk
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Able to take ownership of projects and drive them to successful completion
  • Able to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good drafting, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good at relationship management
  • Continually look for ways to develop and improve process
