What is the overall purpose of the role?
To deliver the TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring sales strategy and objectives within the given sales territory, which in turn contributes to the growth and profitability of the business. Also, to develop existing and new domestic customer trading accounts by closing sales opportunities across the range of flooring products.
What will you be doing?
- Developing and maintaining targeted accounts and building relationships
- Travelling to potential and existing customers within an assigned sales area to present company offerings and build brand awareness
- Creating New Account opportunities
- Developing sales of core and specialist products
- Following up sales leads from colleagues, key suppliers and other partners
- Collecting customer feedback and providing updates to senior management
- Developing and sustaining long-term relationships with customers.
- Following up opportunities to maximise quote conversion rate
- Using outbound telephone calls, email communications and face-to-face meetings with customers to close sales.
- Fully utilising the CRM tool to capture activities and opportunities
- Communicating effectively at all levels of the business, suppliers and customers
Scope of the Role
- This role is focused around building relationships with your customers, promoting our own brand products, and increasing sales.
- Working as an individual, and also part of wider team, the role will require the delivery of sales and margin targets for the given term. This emphasises the amount of drive, persuasion, cooperation, and functional excellence required of the post holder.
- A key part of the role is to collaborate with other members of staff, specifically local branch personnel, other teams within the business, and central resources based at head office.
- Focus on improving the customer experience, promoting the benefits of Carpet and Flooring as a partner, and driving compliance on projects relating to supply chain agreements on site.
- Visiting regional offices of strategic customers , and other retail sector clients.
- Supporting the strategies of our key suppliers and working in a collaborative way.
- Representing Carpet and Flooring at customer events, trade shows and exhibitions.
Working pattern
- Full-time (40 worked hours per week), Monday to Friday with 1-hour unpaid lunch per day
- 25 days annual leave (pro rata for the remainder of the year)
- PLUS statutory/bank holidays
- Extensive travel within the given territory
- Overnight stays as and when required.
What do you NEED to have?
- Proven sales experience (sector-specific sales experience is preferred, but not essential).
- Proven track record of meeting sales quotas.
- Key account management 150+
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Outstanding negotiation and consultative sales skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.

- Product and competitor knowledge within the flooring industry.
- Experience of using Salesforce CRM system.
