Commercial Manager

Since its formation in 2000, Network Plus Group has gone from strength to strength following successful contract awards and acquisitions. The Group comprises Network Plus Services, Go Traffic Management, Capital Traffic Management, EOS and Network Plus Multi Utility.
Network Plus is now one of the UK’s leading utility and infrastructure providers, with offices and depots stretching from Carlisle to the South coast. We deliver services to clients and the public 24/7/365.
Core services include repair, maintenance, construction and installation of utility and infrastructure assets. We provide traffic management through our sister businesses; Go Traffic Management and Capital Traffic Management. Vegetation management and tree cutting activities are provided through EOS Contracting.

Our Role
As a Commercial Manager, you will effectively manage all commercial aspects of the business and maintain regular liaison with all stakeholders. You will build and lead a high performing team with significant opportunity to grow the team through growth of works (manage the development of personal plans, establish objectives / targets for all direct reports and monitor on an ongoing basis).
Key responsibilities
· Ensure achievement of annual (and monthly) commercial objectives and targets in line with the operations manager set the annual contract plan & monitor / deliver performance against it
· Active management and participant of the work winning process Management and negotiation of key contract terms for new (& where appropriate existing contracts) to minimise business risk and maximise returns
Develop new processes & management for:
o Cost & value capture
o Subcontractor relationships and management
o Weekly profit and loss production and evaluation
o Application process and accuracy
· Value recovery, billing and WIP identification
· Proactive management of cash (inflow and outflow) including identification of, and delivery of betterment
· Compliance with Network Plus systems and processes to deliver contract management
· Ensure compliance with deadlines – both internal and client enforced
· Key client liaison from a commercial perspective
· Improvement of Profit and working capital position
· Drive a culture of margin improvement
· Implement and Drive weekly & monthly performance reviews taking accountability for performance to interrogate performance and ensure appropriate actions in place to resolve any underperformance
· Ensure contract compliance from an operational and commercial perspective and drive this as through business culture - Run commercial workshops where appropriate
· Manage risk profile and compete monthly risk appraisals
· Compliance with ad hoc and year-end audit requirements and lead commercial liaison with external audit company
· Identification of opportunities and ability to close out to the benefit of the company
· Ability to manage client disputes
· Implement and lead team meetings on a regular basis
Key Experience
· Management of subcontractors
· Leadership of a team
· Leadership of a multidiscipline team (Senior QS, QS, Commercial Assistants)
· High volume activity contracts
· Management and production of cost value reconciliations (Weekly P&L statements)
· Experience of new contracts / change management of existing (setting up new processes)
· Commercial management of £20m+ p.a. contract with ideally experience of multiple
contracts
· Development of key relationships with senior stakeholders (internal & customer)
· Identification of process and performance GAPS and resolution of issues through
· Development of improvements
Technical competencies
· Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
· Sound knowledge of contracts – NEC preferred
· Awareness of industry issues
· Good health, safety and environmental awareness
