As a Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all commercial matters on projects within a specific geographical area or for designated clients/contracts. Your exceptional leadership skills will be utilized to guide and mentor a team of Project Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, ensuring the seamless execution of commercial and contractual administration throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management of Project Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors within your team, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Ensure adherence to existing commercial and contractual procedures and protocols, promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Collate, verify, and be accountable for contract reporting, including CVR (Cost-Value Reconciliation), cash flow, and other relevant reports, providing valuable insights to the Commercial Director.
  • Develop and implement additional or modified reporting mechanisms as required.
  • Actively participate in maximizing earned value and securing full entitlements regarding both cost and program (extensions of time).
  • Understand the commercial performance of projects and take proactive measures to fix or alter outcomes when necessary.
  • Take overall responsibility for the accurate and timely submission of payment applications and final accounts.
  • Ensure robust administration of Early Warning Notice (EWN) and Compensation Event (CE) procedures.
  • Oversee and manage subcontract procurement and final accounts, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with project teams to effectively control and manage costs within budget.
  • Handle escalated commercial issues, including negotiation with client counterparts, ensuring successful resolution.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
  • Alternative qualifications such as HND, HNC, BSc, or BEng in construction or business-related disciplines will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to drive results and navigate through complex commercial challenges.
  • Solid understanding of commercial procedures, contracts, and reporting protocols.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional service, combined with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Salary: £80,000.00-£90,000.00 per year
