Purpose:
The Commercial Manager is responsible for supporting ABP's growth through new business development and account management.
Accountabilities:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and work to convert these into new business for the port to maximise business growth and customer satisfaction
- Handle and take ownership of all matters related to customer accounts to meet revenue and volume growth targets
- Handle customer tender processes
- Negotiate commercial agreements and handle existing commercial agreements in relation to performance and pricing on a structured basis, and in conjunction with regular review meetings with the customer
- Actively assist with the development and maintenance of commercial systems (CRM), metrics and reports
- Promote the Humber ports and ABP’s national portfolio of ports, by developing and maintaining strong networking links with key stakeholders.
- Support the creation of regional, or group, marketing material, website and social media content.
- Bring an entrepreneurial approach to the search for new business support by a positive “can do” approach
About you:
Strong commercial competence, excel in customer services excellence. A self-starter, highly motivated with a positive attitude. Ability to assert authority to meet agreed timescales and deadlines and to overcome problems. Excellent interpersonal and communication, liaise and build relationships with key collaborators.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Graduate or at least 5 years sales and marketing experience
- Strong Commercial background
- Demonstrable experience and capability to grow the business revenues and profitability
- Presentation skills
- Tenacious and proactive
- Experience of developing innovative and practical solutions to challenges
- Must be numerate and financially aware
- A teammate capable of collaborating with a complementary team to develop and deliver team objectives
- Ability to effectively lead and prioritise workload
Ideal:
- Ideally some ports exposure or of attracting cargo through ports (steel, scrap, recyclables, construction bulks, forest products, project and general cargoes)
- Experience and understanding of port operations
- Experience developing pricing models/charging arrangements on new business
