JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is an excellent opportunity for a highly ambitious recent graduate who has a keen interest in the food and drink industry and is excited by working in a fast-moving commercial and marketing role.

This is an important project-based role which requires an enthusiastic individual, eager to learn.

The successful candidate will work within the foodservice business local sourcing, marketing, sales and buying teams to provide supplier development support, helping develop the trading capabilities of suppliers, through effective product ranging, promotions and marketing to help both the suppliers, and the foodservice business, to significantly grow sales, bringing product to market more quickly and allow greater flexibility for risk in testing NPD with customers.

This role will facilitate support provided by SF&D, helping Scottish food and drink producers to reach their target consumer / customer, bring new products to market, grow their sales and scale their business.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Support the delivery of a commercial growth strategy unique to the Brakes business.

· Working with the Local Sourcing Manager and an allocated group of Scottish food and drink producers grow sales through analysis of sales performance, waste and margin data and delivery of effective product ranging (including new product development) and promotions.

· Working with the local Marketing function, grow sales through delivery of effective consumer communications, promotions, and events.

· Working with the Sales team, grow sales by identifying and building relationships with customers that have a key interest in buying Scottish products.

· Support local Marketing with delivery and content, including promotional collateral.

· Provide support, alongside SF&D, to suppliers to develop capabilities in performance and data analysis, business planning and reporting, product ranging and promotional planning.

· Support the department administration; from managing sales trackers, to meetings and event and exhibition set up.

· Key liaison between suppliers, and all other departments

· Work to agreed targets, monitor progress, and deliver regular reports.

KEY COMPETENCIES

· Good understanding of and affinity towards the Scottish food & drink industry

· Demonstrable history of delivering against targets.

· Good understanding of commercial businesses.

· Strong organisational and time management skills.

· Highly motivated individual, showing initiative and creative, independent thinking.

· Self-confident and able to proactively manage workloads.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing and public speaking.

· Excellent analytical, monitoring and reporting skills, with a high attention to detail.

· Full Driving Licence.

· Willingness to travel and attend events out with normal working hours if required.

Travel to companies throughout Scotland (suppliers and event locations) is also required as part of this role.

KPI’s will be agreed.

Brakes Scotland is part of Sysco, the world’s largest foodservice business operating worldwide. The graduate programme will provide valuable experience working in commercial buying and marketing teams and ensuring a deep understanding of the foodservice sector.

Annual Leave entitlement: 25 days (plus 10 bank holidays)

Working hours: Full time

Contract:Temporary contract – 24 months

Location: Initially based full time at Newhouse, near Motherwell in the Brakes Scotland (ML1 5GH) offices with the requirement to attend team meetings at SF&D offices in Edinburgh approximately 1 day a month. There will be opportunities for hybrid working after initial training/induction period.
