The Internship programme is 8 weeks long and starts on 26th June 2023. It is designed for students currently studying and undertaking a relevant University degree.

The intern will primarily focus on providing day-to-day administration and support to Directors and Senior Bankers in the Commercial Banking team. They will support the team with client acquisition and retention via client contact, but will primarily provide support in the preparation of lending proposals and support the growth aspirations of the commercial banking division via Know Your Customer (KYC).

Key Responsibilities (varies depending on team and current projects)

General Day-to-Day Administration

  • Preparing client communications
  • Preparing account opening forms
  • Responsible for keeping client records updated
  • Instigating and maintaining client files
  • Maintaining accurate client information in banking systems and CRM Salesforce
  • Manage account maintenance procedures – including account opening and account closing

Client service and sales support

  • Provide support to the Banker and team as a point of contact in respect to day-to-day banking
  • Support in managing account maintenance procedures – including account opening and account closures
  • Develop a knowledge of structuring and completing credit applications
  • Develop an understanding of facility letters, and completion of lending transactions on the Bank’s loan administration and banking system
  • Provide support and awareness in the monitoring, preparation of annual client reviews – maintaining client files in the process
  • Develop an understanding of monitoring, reviewing and the preparation of drawdown recommendations in development loans following a review of Independent Monitoring Surveyor reports
  • Supporting Banker and Commercial Banking Executives in collating loan packs for drawdowns and credit approval

Compliance

  • Complete compliance regulatory online training (as required), adhering to both legal and regulatory requirements
  • Assist Bankers in the completion of money laundering / Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews and submission to compliance
  • These are regulatory records, and accuracy, completion and attention to detail are all essential
  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures

  • Liaise with other areas of the Bank including Credit Risk, Credit Operations and other Front Line Banking teams


Person Specification

Knowledge / Skills

  • Experience in Client Facing role and/or ability to provide a high level of client service
  • An interest in banking and financial markets
  • Accruacy and attention to detail
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Experience using Microsoft Programs – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Training will be provided where appropriate
