We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate College Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a College Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide support to students with complex needs, ensuring they have every opportunity to achieve their academic and personal goals. This is a rewarding role that requires patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with special educational needs.
This is a part time role - Tuesday to Friday (at least 2 days a week are required, more is preferred).
Hours: 08:30 - 4:30
- Work closely with students with complex needs, providing individualized support in both academic and personal development.
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum and adapting teaching materials to suit their specific requirements.
- Help develop and implement personalized learning plans in collaboration with the teaching staff and SEN coordinators.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and valued.
- Provide assistance with personal care tasks, if necessary, while respecting the students' dignity and promoting their independence.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teaching staff, and parents/guardians to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
- Monitor students' progress, record observations, and provide feedback to the teaching staff and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the SEN team to implement strategies and interventions that promote the overall well-being and academic success of students with complex needs.
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS ideally on Update Service - or willing to apply.
- No particular level of education is required. Any relevant course or degree will be an advantage, though.
- Prior experience working with students with complex needs and special educational needs is desirable, but not completely necessary - we are looking for someone with passion to help and the right attitude!
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students and collaborate with the wider educational team.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
