DATA ANALYST - CREDIT RISK

We are seeking a number of enthusiastic, analytical graduates to join our Credit Risk teams within Risk and Compliance. We are offering the opportunity to refine your Data Analysis skills, with support from our Credit Risk experts to establish your career in Financial Services.
As a Data/Credit Risk Analyst you will utilise your insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. You will also drive improvements in the performance of the UK portfolios and manage Credit risk. This will be achieved through analysing, and interpreting data from a variety of sources to provide analytical solutions to complex business problems.
Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively handles a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks.
You’ll also interact with a multitude of areas across Risk and the wider bank, such as Modelling, Financial Modelling, Commercial, Operational and Deployment teams to name a few.
In this role, you will:
- Provide analysis to manage credit portfolios against agreed performance indicators;
- Develop, maintain and improve credit risk strategies and models to manage decisions throughout the credit lifecycle;
- Support projects either driven from within Credit or from our external partners ensuring the projects have considered Credit implications.
- Ensure that the portfolio strategies and processes are compliant with the appropriate regulations and regulator guidance by ensuring adherence to Group and Regional policy requirements.
To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:
- A STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) Degree, or equivalent, with a quantitative, numerical and/or analytical focus.
- An ability to extract and interpret data and communicate through data visualisation.
- Ability to manage own time and own tasks within a project/piece of work, prioritising where necessary and escalating issues appropriately
- Ability to present complex concepts and results in a way tailored to the audience and able to make recommendations based on analytic results
- Some core coding skills ideally, SAS and/or Python.
The base location for this role is either Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds or Chester.
