The opportunity.
This is your chance to be part of something a bit different. You’ll be working closely with the most important part of our business – our customers! Giving fantastic customer care, making them feel good and really getting to know them and what they’re looking for. We are looking for an enthusiastic, keen, can do individual to join our team long-term. We work closely with local charity shops and libraries to collect old / unused stock which is sorted at our Head Office in Lancashire. The role will involve collecting stock from these locations and taking them back to our sub-depot in Caterham.
What you’ll be doing day to day.
You will collect from various locations across the south of England and return to our depot to unload at the end of each day. You will also be expected to know our service inside out so that from time to time you can sell the service to potential customers. You will drive one of our company vehicles and also issued with a handheld device and payment cards.
Team Leader requirements:
Experience of leading a team
Ability to positively influence good practice
Facilitate team well-being initiatives
To support the Transport Manager in the day-to-day operations based in London
Ensure working times are adhered to Mon – Fri 0830 start/1730 finish
Early starts/early finishes to be authorised by the Transport Manager only
Communicate with all the drivers based in London on a daily basis
Pro-actively engage the drivers to generate new custom whilst out and about – (financial incentive already in operation)
Record driver overtime and send weekly to the Transport Manager
Ensure relevant paperwork is in sufficient supply
Consult with the Transport Manger with regards to the trailer swap – photos to be sent to the Transport Manager
Conduct van inspections periodically
Assist with recruitment, driver training and improvement training
Assist with procedure adherence and disciplinary matters
Identify areas for improvement

We are one of the leading used book buyers and the 5th largest Amazon seller in the UK. Our objective is to buy books from bibliophiles wanting to sell for cash; and either recycling or finding second homes for them.
We are dedicated to helping our customers dust off their shelves and clear space in their homes: downsizing their towering piles of second-hand books whilst simultaneously passing on the joy of reading to others.
We love passing books on to brand new owners, but we are also committed to making a difference to the environment. We recycle old books and are accredited with the Environment Agency as authorised waste brokers and carriers. Our registration number is CB/FM3359JA.

In order to be successful for this role, we need an enthusiastic, keen, can-do to join our team for long-term success. Along with this, we requre:-
- Full Driving License with no disqualification
- A minimum of 2 years multi-drop driving experience
- Ability to lift heavy sacks of books within small areas
- Ability to work well within a team remotely

42.5 Hours per week
