Job description
The applicant will need to be able to demonstrate relevant working experience in a food preparation and food service establishment, and be in a position to work to the following guidelines:
To be prepared to work safely and in accordance with Safer Food Better Business for Caterers handbook prepared for Northumberland County Council.
Key holder responsibilities including opening up and closing down each working day, and ensuring the café is secure at all times.
Reporting to the Manager any relevant issues or general concerns.
Willingness to attend training if required, including Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety training, and refresher training as appropriate.
Cash handling, float management and till reconciliation daily.
To assist with the ordering and storage of food, beverages and cleaning products liaising on any additional stock changes or requirements.
Maintain adequate stock levels of snacks, drinks, crockery and disposables, and ensure stock awaiting sale is kept at optimum condition and any wastage is minimised and recorded.
Immediately inform your line manager of any financial issues that arise whilst working.
Be responsible for the smooth running of the café during events such as auction viewing days etc.
To be professional, polite and well presented, whilst providing and maintaining excellent customer care at all times.
Ensure the coffee machines are in good working order and maintained on a regular basis, and that all items such as sugar, milk and spoons/stirrers are always available.
Maintain a safe, clean and tidy cafe area, to include clearing of tables, floors and waste areas.
Ensuring all required paperwork, including fridge temperature records and cleaning schedules, are completed to a high standard.
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities required at any time.
Salary will be determined by skill levels and experience.
