Job description
Full Time (37.5) or Part Time - minimum 4 days (30 hours) per week
Are you working in practice and enjoying training and guiding others? Would you like to use your practical experience to play a key role in shaping the development of the next generation of legal professionals?
BPP is a leading provider of legal apprenticeships, and we are seeking qualified solicitors to coach apprentices on our paralegal, solicitor and graduate entry programmes. This is a unique, rewarding role, where you will be the first point of contact for apprentices, ensuring they are on track to succeed and providing pastoral support. The role provides an excellent work/life balance and can be either hybrid or home based.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting apprentices in achieving the apprenticeship outcomes and applying their knowledge, skills, and behaviours in the workplace.
- Coaching apprentices throughout their programme and marking assignments.
- Assisting apprentices with identifying gaps in evidence and providing suggestions for opportunities to evidence outstanding apprentice outcomes.
- Helping apprentices identify and select evidence for their final portfolio ready for review and/or assessment.
- Conducting progress review meetings, encouraging learners to reflect on their development and progression.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements including tracking progress of learners and maintaining accurate learner records.
Choose a better work-life balance
With hybrid working available, you’ll be able to split your time between one of our centres and wherever you choose to call home. Either way, you’ll benefit from a vibrant workplace and a culture that believes in looking after others, while being part of a diverse workforce where difference is celebrated. On top of a competitive salary, we provide a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days plus bank holidays, and there’s a rewards package that includes retail discounts, Group Personal Pension Plan, dedicated healthcare and dental plans that offer additional assurance to look after you and your family. Brilliantly, you can also study any of BPP’s courses for free – be it a professional qualification or full degree.
What you'll bring
A qualified solicitor with practice experience along with experience of teaching, training, coaching or mentoring in academic, pro-bono or a dedicated Learning and Development environment.
You will have a strong understanding of current practice in the legal sector through regular engagement with legal employers, industry associations and law societies.
You will use your planning skills to ensure regular, structured, and positive contact points with legal apprentices.
You will have a passion and commitments towards legal apprenticeships and have an awareness of the challenges faced by students.
You will use your strong written and verbal communication skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and students.
