Job description
The Sioux Lookout Skating Club is a Skate Canada sanctioned, volunteer run club in Sioux Lookout, ON. We offer programs for our community from beginner (children-adult) to the most skilled skater.
We are seeking coaching candidates who are enthusiastic, dedicated to the sport for the 2023-2024 season. We are looking for highly motivated coaches who are enthusiastic, demonstrate a willingness to work with a collaborative team approach providing support and encouragement while setting goals for our athletes and families. The Sioux Lookout Skating Club runs sessions from September to April. Our program schedule is flexible to balance with the availability of the coach(es).
We are flexible with our program schedule as we recognize that successful applicants may need to commute. In the past we have had a regionally certified coach commute twice a month to plan, monitor, assess and maintain the program. In the interim, local non- certified coaches have supported the skating program with twice a week ice times. Our club is willing to help with travel costs and accommodations. We want our skaters continue to be challenged and grow on the ice and we are willing to think outside the box to do so. We are open to programming proposals along with applications.
Applicants will be considered for coaching CanSkate, PreStar Skate and/or StarSkate programs. The position involves coaching group lessons on our PreStar Skate, StarSkate and CanSkate sessions, as well individual one-on -one support to our skaters as needed. Successful candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence, work well as part of the coaching team and support our athletes’ long term development.
The Applicant must:
· be a Skate Canada Certified NCCP Regional or Provincial Coach, meeting all current Skate Canada requirements (or In-training)
· enjoy working with children, teens and adults
· excellent team building and interpersonal skills
· be highly motivated, passionate, professional and reliable.
· be in good standing with Skate Canada
· provide references
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 months
Part-time hours: 5-20 per week
Salary: $20.00-$55.00 per hour
