The Opioid Epidemic is a public health crisis with a highly effective but underutilized clinical intervention - millions of Americans are physically dependent on Opioids but only 10% of those likely to have OUD actually access treatment. Bicycle Health addresses this gap by maximizing accessibility, affordability, and overall quality of care by enabling highly qualified clinicians to reach patients broadly and efficiently through our online platform.
The Recovery Coach is responsible for providing peer recovery support services by facilitating support groups, one-on-one recovery coaching, and care coordination services in our virtual care model. The Recovery Coach helps deliver holistic care services by providing support across multiple systems and frameworks of care. The Recovery Coach will serve as a motivator and advocate for our patients; this role is a key collaborator with our medical and behavioral health clinicians.
You can expect to:
- Provides recovery coaching primarily to patients struggling with opioid use disorder in 100% telehealth settings.
- Serve as a recovery ambassador for patients in their treatment and recovery process through teaching, modeling, and encouraging self-advocacy and empowerment for all patients.
- Facilitate patient support groups that foster a larger community of care and provide one-on-one coaching, including helping patients identify and set goals for individual recovery plans.
- Address patients' concerns particularly during early treatment and periods of instability, track treatment response, and answer questions related to the treatment process.
- Complete timely documentation of all care coordination and patient encounters in the EHR as well as provide updates to appropriate multidisciplinary care team members.
- Systematically track patients' recovery coaching response, outreach efforts, and outcomes.
- Assist in patient care coordination with Bicycle Health clinicians, patients' primary care or other specialty providers, including researching and facilitating referrals to community services/programs as needed.
- Participate in ongoing recovery coach training, education, and performance support.
- Master our technology suite, including the Bicycle Health app, G-suite, Zoom, FreshWorks, Athena, among others to efficiently triage and resolve administrative and logistical tasks that support patient care.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualities We're Looking For:
- Personal experience with addiction in family member(s) or loved one(s) and/or 2 years of continuous, lived recovery from any Substance Use Disorder (SUD) preferred.
- CCAR (Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery) Recovery Coach Academy (RCA) certification or the successful completion within 3 months of hire; Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) or IC&RC Peer Recovery (PR) reciprocal credential required within the first 12 months of employment.
- Experience with the addiction recovery process and demonstrated understanding of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) treatment as well as multiple pathways approach to recovery.
- Familiarity with support services, resources, and recovery community for culturally diverse populations and strong customer service ethic.
- Demonstrated ability to build an effective coach-client relationship through active listening as well as ability to maintain effective working relationships, including appropriate boundaries with patients/family and staff.
- Collaborative, data-driven team player with time-management, attention to detail, and strong written & verbal communication skills with the adaptability to problem solve potential challenges.
- Comfort with computer technology, especially typing, maximizing use of available resources, and navigating multiple software platforms (e.g., Microsoft / Google Suites).
- Medical experience and bilingual Spanish are preferable, but not required.
- Consistent access to a private work environment with high speed internet and professionally appropriate surroundings for frequent video conferencing and a workstation setup conducive to remote work needs.
Preferred Qualities we're looking for:
- Personal experience with addiction in family member(s) or loved one(s) and/or 2 years of lived continuous recovery experience from any Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Target Pay Range: $23.08 - $25 per hour - Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.'
