Why Rolls-Royce?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CNC Grinder to join our team in Mainline Shafts (DSFT), within the Rotatives Supply Chain Unit.

You will operate in a busy, world-class engineering and manufacturing environment and be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements. Your role as a CNC Grinder will involve working on some of the latest machining platforms in Rolls Royce producing various shaft components across all the major engine projects.

Work with us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and remarkable benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

You will work with cross functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within our manufacturing environment.

  • Work to Rolls-Royce Technical Instructions to deliver consistent, high quality Inspection across a variety of different components and product families.
  • Operate a variety of Inspection equipment, micrometers, bore gauges and comparator gauging.
  • The interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications.
  • The assessment of whether the quality of components produced within the facility meets the required standards.
  • Work within a team to effectively resolve quality issues and ensure your work is being completed to plan.

Who we are looking for:

Being a part of Rolls-Royce you’ll know we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These values form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

  • NVQ Level 3 and time served engineering apprenticeship, with previous experience with aerospace components would be preferable.
  • Prior experience of internal, external and Curvic grinding would be preferred.
  • Prior experience of the visual and dimensional inspection to aerospace standard is preferable.
  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection.
  • Looking for candidates who are pro-active and patient individuals that are capable of managing their time effectively.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse team and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

We welcome applications from people with a refugee background.
