NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. This is a fulltime post of 37.5 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 7 nightshifts per fortnight (flexible nights). We are looking for a compassionate and kind individual to join our Hospital at Night (HaN) Team within GRI for a full-time post working 29 nights per 8 week period. You will have a minimum of two years working within acute health care or as a current Clinical Support Worker in an acute adult hospital, highly competent and trained to take bloods, insert cannulas and do ECGs as part of your current role. Current venepuncture and cannulation skills as part of your role at expert level are essential to apply for this post. Note that Statement of Support within Application Form must describe expertise in current venepuncture and cannulation skills or you will not be shortlisted. We are looking for an individual with well developed communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. As part of the multidisciplinary team you will provide high standards of care to patients out of hours by supporting a range of activities central to the HaN service. You require to work without direct supervision while carrying out a range of clinical tasks in the course of your duties i.e. venepuncture, cannulation, updating TrakCare requests, performing ECGs and administration and clerical tasks as required. This post covers the majority of wards within the hospital. The Clinical Support Worker will be required to work twenty nine 11 hour night shifts per 8 weeks.
