Job description
The Fleet Street Clinic is a long established, independent, and multidisciplinary clinic offering a range of private medical and healthcare services to individual patients and corporate clients.
The clinic has pioneered use of point-of-care PCR testing in a patient-facing setting, which we have been able to offer since 2016. Our service has expanded considerably in the face of demand for rapid coronavirus PCR diagnosis, and over the past 2 years we have developed state-of-the-art lab with several PCR testing platforms in use.
We specialise in providing rapid PCR testing for private patients and for our corporate clients on bespoke projects within the film, entertainment, and media industries. We are also working to expand our portfolio of other in-house medical diagnostic tests, notably relating to women’s health and sexual health.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 3 month fixed term contract for a part time Clinical Scientist to join the team in our newly built and UKAS accredited facility.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Provide clinical advice and guidance on Covid-19/laboratory tests
- Provide clinical oversight via attendance to MMR and annual laboratory clinical audit (including reviewing reporting algorithms, suggesting new or better tests, and ensuring service remains fit for purpose and relevant)

- Review and recommendations on laboratory process and documentation as and when required (includes ISO 15189 and ISO 22870) which is within their scope of practice
- Lead, suggest or review laboratory projects as required - such as verifications, validations, pooling project write up, implementation of STI and other laboratory tests
- Take part in educational activities in the laboratory such as CPD and mentor trainees as required, ensuring they maintain their training and CPD
- To support the Laboratory Service in compliance with all relevant compliance and quality assurance standards – UKAS ISO 15189, ISO 22870, ISO 9001 and other accreditation standards and minimum standards as set by DHSC in collaboration with the Quality Manager (QM)
