About us

The UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment where clinicians, scientists, engineers, allied health professionals and researchers are constantly striving for innovative approaches to treatment and evaluation. Our research spans the full translational pathway, which is reflected in the multidisciplinary nature of our team. Professor Caroline Moore (Head of UCL Urology) has been awarded an NIHR research Professorship, for the BESPOKE programme – Building and evaluating a Stratified Prostate Cancer pathway for Screening, Detection, Decision Support and Surveillance. BeSpoke will enable the development of a personalised approach to prostate cancer, developing the components needed for a modern approach to screening for aggressive prostate cancer, refining the MRI techniques needed for men at higher risk, personalising the approach to monitoring lower risk cancers, and detailing the recovery after different treatments for localised prostate cancer, so that men can choose the most appropriate treatment for them.

About the role

We are looking for applicants who have an enthusiasm for conducting clinical research in the NHS to assist Prof Moore with projects across the BeSpoke programme. They will have a particular focus on the BeSpoke study of personalised advice and outcome prediction to help men with localised prostate cancer choose the treatment approach that is best for them. The applicant will be encouraged to apply for a PhD based on the BeSpoke work, funding will be covered by the BeSpoke project (Please note funding for the PhD is for UK applicants only). This is a full-time post funded for 2 years in the first instance with opportunity to extend for another year. The maximum salary available is £39,454 per annum (which includes London Allowance). For enquiries regarding the application process please contact Stephanie Ball, Divisional Staffing Manager [email protected] and quote the vacancy reference number. For informal enquiries about the role please contact Maathini Balachandran [email protected] or John Withington [email protected]. A DBS check will be required for this post.
