About us

The UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences is a world-leading group that brings together expertise across the clinical and basic science spectrum of the physiology and pathology of human movement and movement disorders. The Department incorporates groups from the Queen Square and Royal Free campuses of the Institute and includes the Reta Lila Weston Institute and the Movement Disorders Centre.

About the role

We are seeking a Clinical Research Fellow to support our studies in prodromal Parkinson’s disease. You will recruit and assess patients in these groups and work with our collaborators on biomarkers studies, including MRI imaging.

The project will involve coordinating with patients and collaborators in clinical and biomarker studies, recruiting and assessing patients and performing analyses.

You will have a chance to develop your own research interest and formulate and develop new research questions. This is a great opportunity for a clinician who is planning to apply for a personal research fellowship.

The post is available immediately and is funded by a grant awarded to Professor Anette Schrag for 12 months, or until 30 June 2024, whichever is earlier, in the first instance.

If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online, or have any queries regarding the application process, please contact the Institute of Neurology HR Team ([email protected]).

Informal enquiries regarding the role can be addressed to Professor Annette Schrag ([email protected]).

A full job description and person specification for this role can be accessed below.

About you

You will be a registered medical practitioner licensed to practise in the UK with an interest in Parkinson’s disease and clinical trial approaches to tackle neurodegeneration, with a broad scientific background and insight into the biology of neurodegeneration.

A methodical approach to gathering and documenting data is essential, as is a very high level of consideration and care for participants.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

What we offer

The role is offered in the range of £39,254 - £62,398 per annum including London Allowance, on the CL, JDPS, or StR scale, dependent on stage of clinical training.

As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer great benefits, some of which are below:

  • 41 Days holiday (27 days annual leave 8 bank holiday and 6 closure days)
  • Additional 5 days’ annual leave purchase scheme
  • Defined benefit career average revalued earnings pension scheme (CARE)

  • Immigration loan
  • Relocation scheme for certain posts
