You will be the specialist pharmacist in the women’s and children’s directorate, delivering highly specialised pharmaceutical care to patients and working closely with other healthcare professionals.

This is an ideal opportunity to develop your specialist clinical practice and leadership, providing the ideal environment to fulfil your potential for further career progression. You will work within a supportive and motivating team whilst also acting as a role model and mentor for junior colleagues. Our Trust aspires to be the best rural District General Hospital and you will be part of that journey.

Key responsibilities will be day to day smooth running of the service, leading innovation to develop the effectiveness, safety and productivity of the service and engagement with the multidisciplinary team.

This role will be extremely rewarding, and requires a motivated and compassionate individual, experienced in working at a specialist clinical level, with a track record for service development and delivering to agreed targets.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech.

In February 2022, the significant progress that has been made at QEH in just three years since 2019 was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures). We have an absolute determination to continuously improve care and services for our patients and their families.

Our Pharmacy department

We are excited to welcome the new Lead for Women and Children to join our senior Pharmacy team. Led by our new Chief Pharmacist, we value team wellbeing, innovation and working together to deliver excellent care for all our patients.

Our team delivers medicines optimisation and technical services across our medical, surgical, women’s and children’s, cancer services and urgent admissions.

We have implemented Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) and are supporting the collaborative procurement of electronic Patient Record (ePR) across the three secondary care trusts in Norfolk and Waveney.

Our team delivers a wide range of clinical and ward based services as well as aseptics, homecare, digital, medicines safety and procurement.

We champion innovation and many team members have completed Quality Service Improvement and Redesign (QSIR) training and are implementing improvement projects in the department.
