An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team of rotational clinical pharmacists. We are looking for a motivated Clinical Pharmacist who will have an on-call commitment to join our Pharmacy Team.
The Pharmacy department at The London Clinic comprises of number of areas which work together to provide effective patient services and best possible outcomes for our patients.
The London Clinic’s Pharmacy Department are a close-knit team with around 45 staff members. The Pharmacy department comprises of 9 core services: On Call, Dispensary Services, Distribution and Top Up Service, Procurement, Clinical Ward Pharmacy Services, Provision of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Aseptic/Technical Services, Clinical Governance and Education and Training.
We have extensive oncology services, including a purpose built chemotherapy aseptic compounding suite as well as an automated medication dispensing system which supports decentralised medicine management in numerous wards.
Job Description
As a Clinical Pharmacist you will provide comprehensive and patient centred clinical pharmacy service across a range of medical and surgical specialties. This rotational post offers you experience across a variety of clinical areas (3-month rotations) to help you start or develop your career as a hospital pharmacist.
This post allows you to complete a clinical diploma. We are committed to training and we will ensure all pharmacists receive regular feedback within their rotations to support their development. We have regular pharmacist teaching sessions within the department with the opportunity to attend medical teaching sessions as part of our multi-disciplinary approach.
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, plus on-call shifts.
Location: The London Clinic Main Hospital 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW.
Salary: Band 6 equivalent salary range on offer based on skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
- To provide a comprehensive and effective patient centred clinical pharmacy service to designated wards. You will have the opportunity to work in various clinical disciplines including renal/ urology, neurosurgery, orthopaedic & spinal surgery, colorectal surgery, gastroenterology, gynaecology, hepato-biliary, plastics and reconstructive surgery and intensive care.
- To provide dispensary services and undertake training rotations to develop your skills, alongside the Clinical Pharmacy Diploma.
- To participate in bank holiday, late evening and weekend hours; and also provide a non-residential on-call pharmacy service to The London Clinic.
- To participate in quality improvement projects to develop elements of the clinical pharmacy service to improve the patient experience.
Skills & Experience
- You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (UK) as a Pharmacist (or be a current trainee)
- Hold a Pharmacy Masters Degree or recognised equivalent
- Ideally have some experience in an acute healthcare environment.
- Able to work in a busy department in a methodical and flexible way
- The role demands an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
