Job description

JOB PURPOSE

To lead, develop, deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to a specified patient population or directorate/clinical specialty in accordance with the objectives set between the on site Hospital Pharmacy Manager and the Principal Clinical /Deputy Pharmacy Manager.

To act as a role model and provide a consistently high quality pharmaceutical service.


KNOWLEDGE TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Masters degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered to practice with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Continuing Professional Development as detailed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (mandatory requirement)
  • Minimum 6 years hospital pharmacy experience with 4 years working within a clinical or technical speciality
  • Ability to monitor patient therapeutic regimens to ensure effectiveness and reduce toxicity.
  • Previous experience in delivering training and education at post-graduate level.
  • Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice.
  • Demonstrate advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement.
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage resources
  • Participation in weekend and public holiday working
  • Participation in pharmacy emergency duty service (if appropriate)
  • Post graduate degree / diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Management
