15 hours per week, Pharmacy Department, Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital
Band 8a (£) – Paediatric Clinical Trials Pharmacist
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated pharmacist to join our Acute Pharmacy Team within Children’s services as part of the Women and Children’s Pharmacy team. The post will be based at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) and clinical work will be within the paediatric service.
It is a very exciting period for NHS Grampian as we have two major developments the ANCHOR Centre (Cancer) and the Baird Family Hospital (which will replace the current maternity hospital), are currently in construction and both due to open 2023/24. In addition we have a new NHS Grampian Strategy which focuses on creating sustainable health and care over the next 10 years. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the review and acceptance of Paediatric clinical trials and ensuring the safe and effective use of trial medication in NHS Grampian in accordance with clinical trials legislation.
The post holder will work with the RACH Research team and also with the pharmacy team within Women’s and Childrens who are based in RACH. They will be providing expert advice to patients, carers and colleagues on pharmaceutical care issues relating to the care of patients on clinical trials. Experience in cancer services is desirable as most trials are for patients in cancer services. The post holder will also provide clinical input into other paediatric services on occasion. Training will be provided where there are gaps in knowledge/ experience.
Applicants should be experienced pharmacists with good clinical knowledge and able to work effectively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary environment. They will also be required to take an active role in the supervision and training of staff and students, to act as a role model and to participate in audit and research.
This role includes a small commitment to weekend working and a small commitment to supporting additional clinical work within RACH.
