Job description
We are looking for a highly motivated, knowledgeable and enthusiastic qualified or trainee ACP partway through training, to join our Respiratory ACP team. The team was formed 8 years ago & currently consists of 8 qualified and 3 trainee ACPs working predominantly within our Admissions Unit and Same Day Emergency Care Unit. We also offer an inreach service to the Emergency Department and inpatient wards. The team is made up of a mix of Nurses and Physiotherapists
The successful candidate would join the ACP rota on the Admissions Unit working a weekday pattern as standard, whilst becoming fully embedded within the specialty ACP team and the wider medical and multi-disciplinary team. There will be opportunities to join the ACP team in shared training and education activities.
Once established within the team the successful candidate will move on to the full ACP rota, contributing to the inreach and SDEC service, providing specialty advice to inpatients at the QMC site and weekend working. There will also be the opportunity to undertake extended skills such as Level 1 thoracic ultrasound and pleural interventions such as aspirations and chest drain insertion.
If you are an ACP or an existing trainee in another clinical area with the relevant qualifications but are looking to change your area of practice, we will be able to offer a supervised practice/training role to enable you to develop your skills, competencies and a portfolio within a new specialty. If appointed, we will support you with a period of supervision and assessment tailored specifically to individual needs and requirements.
Additionally, your clinical development will be supported and include access to a well-developed post graduate education plan. As an ACP at NUH, your development would follow a Trust-wide five year ACP plan encompassing the four pillars of advanced practice. During this period it is expected that the individual will be actively involved in developing their specialty within local, regional and national forums and networks.
Alongside clinical practice within the specialty, the successful applicant will have weekly rostered time to undertake their own continued professional development alongside service development work. They will be given the opportunity to follow personal interests and pursuits whether that is in education, teaching, research or management.
