Who are we?


Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS ophthalmology services in England, providing outpatients appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. We interact with over 225,000 patients annually, from outpatient appointments to surgery to correct cataracts and helping to manage other eye conditions. We’re passionate about providing individual care for our patients and have a vision to change lives through better sight and eye health.


Our services are delivered through a variety of models including Managed Services and primarily Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV) Partnerships, with each eye centre focused on providing excellent care to their communities. We have significant growth plans as we look to establish a national footprint and open many new sites over the next few years.


We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist to join us on a fixed term basis for 4-6 months. This is a full time role but applications for part time work may be considered. It is home based with regular national travel to our services.


Overview of the role


Reporting to the Head of Quality and Patient Safety, you will act as dedicated central support to develop and embed governance, policies and procedures around the dispensing of medicines across Newmedica services. This will include compliance visits and on-site training.


So what will I be doing?


In this role, you will be reviewing current policy and procedures pertaining to pharmacy services which will include the dispensing of medication and medication security and storage, as well as updating relevant policies to ensure adherence to regulations and best practice.


In addition, you will roll out and embed new ways of working to all of the services, obtaining buy in through effective training and coaching sessions. You will review the roll out through analysis of adherence data.


What experience do I need?


As a qualified GPhC Pharmacist, you will have experience of working in secondary care services as well as having worked in a senior management role.


Along with extensive knowledge of pharmacy regulations and medicines governance, you will need experience of pharmacy compliance and auditing. Your experience of policy development will be key in this role.


Experience of ophthalmology while not essential, would be an advantage as would experience of project management.


Your stakeholder management skills, experience in coaching others, ability to challenge others and have difficult conversations will help you succeed in this position.
