An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for two motivated individuals working as a Clinical Nurse/practitioner. The Infection Prevention and Control Team is a well-established and respected team within the Trust and are looking to appoint the right people for these positions.
We are looking for organised, self-motivated individuals who have extensive clinical experience The post holders must be able to work independently across a wide range of disciplines and have the ability to promote and develop good practice in the field of infection, prevention and control. Daily tasks include surveillance; training, audit and assisting in the management of outbreaks of infection.
The posts will be working 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday, although there may be a requirement to work weekends or unsociable hours.
The posts will be based at either Wansbeck General Hospital or North Tyneside General Hospital but the successful candidate will be required to regularly work Trustwide to meet the needs of the service.
The highly motivated 1st level live NMC registered nurse/Registered Allied Healthcare Professional will possess good communication skills and be able to adapt to a changing environment. Due to the diversity within the job role those wishing to apply must also have good organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a highly effective team.
The role is varied and includes staff education and training, audit, management of complex information and microbiology results, responding to outbreaks of infection and advising and supporting staff in the delivery of high quality, safe care and infection control practice.
Internal rotation across all sites within the Trust will occur.
The successful post holder must be able to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership and be a support for staff and advocate for patients.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick upon Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. The post holders will work within a multi disciplinary team comprising of Infection Control Nurses, Microbiologists, Laboratory staff and administration staff to provide professional advice to all disciplines of staff relating to Infection Prevention and Control Practice and Policies.
The post holders will be responsible for promoting and developing nursing in the field of infection control through creating and maintaining a culture of effective health care amongst Trust staff. Daily tasks include surveillance; training, audit and assisting in the management of outbreaks of infection. Ensuring that these are implemented, delivered and evaluated in line with national and local policy and guidance.
