The Role
The successful applicant will play an integral part in steering the practice to continue achieving clinical excellence and commercial success.You will work alongside the current clinical director, senior management team and Area Director to help develop the practice. This role also involves clinical duties and coaching more recent graduates.
Rota patterns that work for you
This is a unique opportunity for a truly flexible role. Ideally it would be approximately 30 hours a week, this can be over 3-5 working days to suit the needs of the candidate.There is no requirements for any out of hours work, there may be the occasional Saturday morning cover required.
Salary for the role is up to £72,000 FTE depending on experience, relocation allowance of up to £5,000
About Us
Grahams Road Vets is a long established small animal clinic in Falkirk, Central Scotland. We have many lovely, loyal clients allowing us to work up cases to a very high standard. Falkirk is a thriving town with excellent transport links to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is also within easy reach of the beautiful Scottish countryside, mountains and beaches.We have 5 veterinary surgeons with a wide range of interest and expertise. One has a medicine certificate and an interest in cardiology and another who has an interest in chronic pain, acupuncture and soft tissue surgery. We have 3 qualified RVNs who do a lot of consulting, such as wellness clinics, laboratory work as well as working in the operating room. We are a vet nurse training practice and currently have one student veterinary nurse and one animal care assistant. There are also 4 reception staff and two practice managers that currently job share.
The practice is very well equipped with a brand new ultrasound machine, complete with cardiac probe, ECG, digital x-ray, dental equipment, orthopaedic equipment, large laboratory, also separate cat and dog wards.
About the Team and Culture
The practice has a very friendly, supportive environment with a few excellent bakers amongst the staff! We strongly believe in the importance of a work /life balance and a number of staff currently work out with the standard 40 hour week.Although we like to follow our own cases and provide continuity to our clients, there is a real emphasis on working collaboratively and discussing cases. Further training, such as pursuing special interests and certification is encouraged and supported. We aim to provide first opinion veterinary medicine to a very high standard and treat clients pets as if they were our own with a great deal of care and empathy.
Applicant Requirements
You must be a member of the RCVS with extensive experience of small animal veterinary medicine. You must be confident and competent in all clinical matters to lead and support the team in the day to day running of the practice.Some experience as a Clinical Director or leader would be beneficial, but not essential as support and training can be provided. This may suit an experienced veterinary surgeon looking to take the next step into management. It is vital that the candidate is a team player, with excellent communication skills and passionate about veterinary medicine.
