Job description
The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires all healthcare workers, as well as individuals who interact with healthcare workers in a work setting, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. At this time, fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. As a condition of employment, newly hired team members will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or apply for a medical or religious exemption.

- Responsible for participating in the design, planning, development, validation, testing, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned clinical information systems across the organization to support patients and health care professionals.
- Problem solves application and workflow issues and works through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with users, vendor’s, and Information Technology staff.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of clinical applications utilized at OrthoNebraska, e.g., Cerner, ProVation, TheraOffice, and Intergy.
- Establishes and maintains subject matter expertise in information systems for departments including but not limited to nursing, clinics, surgery, emergency department, revenue cycle, HIM, supply chain, ancillary services and providers.
- Follows project management principles and practices including project planning, organization, scheduling, allocation and management of resources, budgeting and reporting.
- Prepares documentation, charts, graphs, project plans, training materials and other written communication.
- Effectively communicates with excellent written and verbal
- Ensures order sets are standardized and integrated as appropriate.
- Works primarily days but however may require flexible hours based on department needs.
- Covers call as outlined by department needs.
- Monitors applications use, system performance, hardware and software reliability
- Demonstrates behaviors which support excellence in customer service, patient safety and professionalism.
- Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with end user departments to ensure optimal utilization of the Hospital’s clinical applications, while providing appropriate levels of end user training and education
- Coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates clinician functional testing for human factors issues before and after system upgrades and improvements
- Maintain current knowledge of healthcare & nursing practices, regulatory standards, management and healthcare advances and trends, and the legal implications of the clinical information system.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a healthcare related field is highly preferred.
- Master’s degree in related healthcare field with emphasis in Informatics field recommended.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years nursing/healthcare experience required.
- Perioperative and/or Ambulatory experience is helpful but not required.
- Extensive work related to project management is preferred.
- Possess an excellent understanding of healthcare related workflows and terminology along with a deep understanding of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and related clinical informatics systems.
- An ability to demonstrate knowledge of current clinical technologies with experience supporting the aspects of the system lifecycle.
Physical:
- This position is classified as Sedentary Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (33%-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
