Financial Accountant
Landfern Group is an exciting group of businesses comprising property interests with hospitality businesses, based in Glasgow city centre. Due to continuing development of the group and changes in the finance team an opportunity to appoint a Financial Accountant reporting to the Head of Finance has arisen. This is an exciting opportunity that will provide the successful individual with a wide range of challenges and opportunities to develop their accounting skills, enrich their career as a professional accountant, and widen their commercial skills across a range of sectors.
The Financial Accountant will be a core member of the finance team in ensuring that the group’s management, statutory and corporate regulations are met. The successful individual will work closely with the operational teams to assist the businesses to achieve targets and drive the strategy of these businesses forward.
Ideally, this role will suit a newly or recently qualified accountant (ICAS / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with a strong technical background. Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing both the group year-end financial statements and subsidiary financial statements and liaising with the ultimate holding company’s finance team.
- Preparing the annual budgets for the business and working with the operational teams on developing the business
- Key contact during the audit process and corporation tax submissions by the auditors
- Responsible for the VAT returns for the subsidiary groups and ensure these are completed as required.
- Key individual to be responsible for preparation of information for the auditors and other external parties and advisers such as banks, lawyers and insurance companies.
- Preparing month-end management accounts for the business and its subsidiary companies.
- Developing and improving the existing internal reporting and KPIs for the operating businesses.
- Preparing forecast cashflows both short and long term as required.
- Assist the Company Secretarial department in dealing with insurance renewal and other similar matters.
- Be actively involved in investment and business appraisals for new business opportunities to develop the estate.
- Working with the wider Finance team on ongoing group corporate simplification process.
Requirements:
- A qualified or nearly qualified accountant: ICAS, ACCA or equivalent
- Strong technical skills and experience of preparing financial statements.
- Confident in communication, both verbal and written
- A team player with experience of working in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical with a strong attention to detail
- Motivated and willing to take ownership of specific projects
- Able to produce high quality work while working to tight reporting deadlines
